This painting is from a photo I took at the Denver Botanic Gardens. The water lilies there are amazing when they are in bloom. Some of the flowers stand really tall above the lily pads, some are almost floating on the water with hardly any stem. Last year I visited a water garden pond in Littleton, Colorado, and the waterlily pads were as big as I have ever seen, maybe three feet across. The flowers were also huge as you can imagine. I think the pads and the flowers are so amazing and beautiful.
